ENGL 339 Blog Post 1: Reflection

     My name is Alyssa and I am a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Writing. I’ve worked for the Captain’s Log as both a staff writer and a section editor and I have a strong interest in Political Journalism. Writing is an activity that I’ve always found kind of therapeutic in a way. It’s a very rewarding process and I love getting the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about a topic throughout the writing process. I enjoy helping others come up with ideas and suggesting any tips for their writing they may find helpful. 

     I think my strengths as both a writer and a student are that I’m good at coming up with ideas and doing thorough research, but I have trouble sometimes when it comes to organizing my papers in a way that flow best. I also think I have a relatively basic understanding of grammar and would love to learn more/refresh my knowledge on that. I would consider a successful semester in this class to be one where I feel like I have grown as a writer and I feel prepared to work in the Writing Center next semester.
