Instagram Storytelling

The goal of my Instagram storytelling is to inform my audience (CNU students) that anyone can write a story for the school paper. I'm also aiming to inform my audience that you don't have to have a job with The Captain's Log or be an active member to have your voice be heard! A lot of students are under the impression that the articles written in the newspaper all belong to The Captain's Log, but the purpose of the paper is to be the voice of CNU students. So if you write a story, your name will appear right above the story, as well as your email so anyone can reach out to you with any further questions. So your story belongs to you, the story is your intellectual property, and The Captains Log will give you credit where credit is due!

The Taylor Swift Effect

     The topic I chose to do some research on is Taylor Swift’s media presence. Any celebrity as big as Taylor Swift is going to draw attention and cause commotion no matter where they go or what they do, but for her it’s a bit different. She’s crafted this formula for announcing music on social media to the point where everything she does is assumed to be calculated. Many sources I found have called this “The Taylor Swift Effect”.       To start off, I figured the best source would be from Taylor Swift herself. The Ms. Americana documentary on Netflix is about her life after taking a break from social media for a year and what moments in her career led to her making that decision. Buzzfeed Review

Buzzfeed is an American news and entertainment company with a focus on digital media and serves as a one-stop-shop for all things pop culture related. Buzzfeed’s website functions well, but I would make a few changes.  As far as the tone and voice of the website goes, Buzzfeed does a good job of tailoring to their respective audience. While there are a myriad of writers for the website, Buzzfeed has a consistently quirky tone. The headlines are eye-catching and every article/quiz has an accompanying photo. The graphics allow users to gauge the content more efficiently. The content is easy to navigate and the homepage lays out a clear hierarchy of information. The trending and most recent content is featured on the homepage, and different forms of content are marked with different colored circles with a symbol or keyword.
